Job Description

This recruitment will be used to fill 30 part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Gymnastics Instructor for the KidSpirit Youth Organization at Oregon State University (OSU). The Youth Program Instructor is responsible for delivering high‑quality instruction to youth while fostering a safe, supportive, and growth‑oriented environment. The position requires strong communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and a commitment to ongoing professional development. Responsibilities include lesson planning, safety response, equipment management, program promotion, and effective collaboration with staff, families, and supervisors. Join Our Team | OSU–KidSpirit | Extension and Engagement | Oregon State University Position Duties Create and maintain an instructional environment that prioritizes skill mastery, emotional safety, and positive youth development. Plan, prepare, and implement age-appropriate lessons and activities that support participant growth and engagement. Use observation, critical thinking, and feedback strategies to evaluate participants and support staff performance. Maintain accountability for all youth in assigned areas, ensuring consistent supervision and responsive care. Experience in gymnastics, dance, tumbling. Monitor participant safety at all times and administer first aid when necessary. Attend required orientation sessions, program meetings, and in-service training. Qualifications

  • Full Employment Eligibility Requirements can be found here: https://hr.oregonstate.edu/student-employment-manual/500-employment-eligibility-requirements Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term
  • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
  • *International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
  • A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
  • Required Current, valid First Aid certification by the start of programming.
  • This can be done during this hiring process.
  • Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect (RRCAN) certification by start of programming.
  • Introduction to Child Care Health & Safety certification by start of programming.
  • Fundamentals of Learning OSU Youth Safety and Compliance requirements, standards of behavior and mandatory reporting training.
  • This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq.
  • Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months.
  • Preferred Extensive Experience in Gymnastics, Tumbling, Dance.
  • Demonstrates the professionalism to complete CANVAS tasks.
  • Working Conditions/Schedule: On campus at Langton Hall, may instruct gymnastics at community events, OSU campus, Albany, Corvallis, Siletz communities and / or throughout the state of Oregon.
  • Facilitate Gymnastic parties.
  • Afternoons / Afterschool programming, and every Saturday.
  • Community events may happen any day of the week and anytime during the day.
