The Department of Ethnic Studies, founded in January 2022, offers an undergraduate degree leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree in Ethnic Studies, as well as several Ethnic Studies minors. The Department currently has five full-time and part-time faculty with expertise in Asian American Studies, Black Studies, Chicana/o/x & Latina/o/x Studies, Critical Pacific Islands & Oceania Studies, Ethnic Studies, and Native American & Indigenous Studies. Our faculty are committed to creating systems of liberation for ourselves and our communities through developing meaningful scholarship, participating in community-centered advocacy, nurturing critical & compassionate students, and preparing students not only for academic success, but also for meaningful participation in their communities as we work together to eliminate racism and all forms of oppression in the US and beyond. Applicant pools are used to fill short-term temporary Lecturer positions across our campus with the possibility of rehiring.
Appointments may last from one day to a whole semester.

Per CSU-wide policy, all faculty who will begin initial employment (or return from a 12-month break in service) on or after January 1, 2022 are required to perform their work from within the State of California. Unit 3 assignments include in-person duties that require an on-campus presence.
The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment. The person will also have a duty to report to the Campus Title IX Officer information pertaining to discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct or exploitation, dating or domestic violence, stalking, and retaliation under the CSU Interim Nondiscrimination Policy.
