The instructor will teach surgical technology theory and clinical labs while managing classroom instruction and evaluating student performance. They will also assist the Department Chair with accreditation data collection and faculty development initiatives.
Position Title: Applicant Pool for Adjunct Faculty, Surgical Technology, Theory and Clinical Lab Instructor
Essential Functions: Working knowledge of the general clinical and instructional performance base in surgical technology. Teach effectively the expected standards of core competencies. Classroom management to include instructing, evaluation and demonstration of surgical skills and practices. Aid Department Chair in the collection of student learning outcomes data for purposes of accreditation. Aid Department Chair in providing feedback for faculty and curricular development towards meeting program mission. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of current clinical practices of surgical technology and be able to effectively communicate said practices and procedures. Demonstrate physical stamina and dexterity to perform the physical functions of a competent CST. Ability to demonstrate the organizational competency to prepare, deliver and close instrumentation support in a surgical theater via established operational procedures. Ability to work under pressure in a team-oriented situation. Timely and effective response to operational needs must be paramount. Minimum Requirements: Associate degree or two-year technical certificate in Certified Surgical Technology At least two years in a clinical setting. Possess current National Certification.
