Position Summary

The Long-Term English/History Teacher is responsible for teaching English/Language Arts and Texas History for 6th grade students. The teacher provides effective classroom instruction and supervision in the absence of the regular classroom teacher while maintaining continuity of learning through the implementation of lesson plans, assessment of student work, and consistent classroom management. The teacher fosters a positive, orderly learning environment and models Christ-like character in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues.

The ideal candidate has experience teaching English and History to middle school students, with preference given to those familiar with classical, Christian education. This role calls for flexibility in stepping into an established classroom, strong organizational skills, and a genuine commitment to the spiritual, academic, and relational formation of students in keeping with the school's mission.

Participates faithfully in a local church, engaging in worship, fellowship, and spiritual accountability as part of a committed Christian life and CCA’s covenantal approach.

Key role responsibilities

Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the classroom teacher.

Supervise students throughout the instructional day, maintaining a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment.

Manage student behavior according to school policies and classroom expectations.

Take attendance and complete other classroom administrative tasks as directed.

Communicate relevant information regarding student progress, behavior, and classroom activities to the regular classroom teacher and administration.

Follow all school safety, emergency, and operational procedures.

Assist with classroom transitions, duties, and supervision assignments as directed.

Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned in support of the school’s mission and operations.

Qualifications

  • A mature and growing personal faith in Jesus Christ consistent with CCA’s Statement of Faith.
  • Active participation in a Bible-believing church.
  • High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Prior experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly, follow directions, and maintain professionalism in a variety of classroom environments.

  • Instructional plans consistently align with the curriculum and dual-credit requirements and intentionally integrate biblical truth, critical thinking, and classical pedagogy that engage and challenge all learners.
  • Assessments are administered consistently, evaluated promptly, and accompanied by clear, actionable feedback that supports student learning and development.
  • The classroom culture reflects respect, accountability, and grace, as demonstrated through high levels of student engagement, responsible conduct, and relationships grounded in truth and love.
  • The teacher maintains accurate and organized records, communicates proactively and professionally with families and colleagues, and participates in the CCA community.
  • CCA’s Portrait of a Graduate competencies and student behaviors are intentionally modeled, reinforced, and developed through instruction, classroom practices, and relational teaching.

Requirements

Candidates must have a mature personal faith in Jesus Christ and active participation in a Bible-believing church. A high school diploma is required, while a bachelor's degree and prior educational experience are preferred.
