A Day in the Life as a Head Start Preschool Lead Teacher

  • As the Head Start Lead Teacher, you’ll play an essential role in providing all aspects of a quality child development program with emphasis on the cognitive, social and emotional development of preschool-aged children.
  • Your day will involve: Provides quality educational experiences for preschool-aged children by planning and preparing daily and weekly program experiences while considering the needs of children. Engages in adult-child interactions that are responsive, supportive, and respectful of children’s needs, development, and play interests. Establishes consistent classroom routines and activities. Designs and maintains a warm and nurturing classroom environment which meets the standards expressed in National Association for the Education of Young Children and NH Child Care Licensing regulations. Each day is an opportunity to inspire curiosity, foster creativity, and build a foundation for lifelong success in the lives of children and their families.

Requirements

Qualifications to Be a Preschool Lead Teacher: To excel in this role, you’ll need: Education: Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education; or Associates Degree in a related field with ECE coursework, including Child Growth and Development Experience: Previous experience working in an early childhood classroom Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively communicate with young children and their families and ability to relate comfortably to income-eligible families.

Characteristics

Attention to detail, confidentiality, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive workplace and early childhood classroom experience. Must be 21 years of age.

Technical

successful completion of criminal record check, CPR/First Aid certification A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required for occasional travel between program locations.
