The Lead Teacher develops and implements a quality child development curriculum focused on the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of infants and toddlers. They are responsible for maintaining a classroom that meets Head Start, NAEYC, and state licensing standards while engaging families in their child's education.
Candidates must have a High School Diploma and a CDA Credential for Infant/Toddler Caregivers or equivalent coursework in child growth and development. Additional requirements include being at least 21 years old, passing a criminal record check, and holding CPR/First Aid certification.
Qualifications to Be an Early Head Start Lead Teacher: To excel in this role, you’ll need: Education: High School Diploma or equivalent credential, Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential for Infant/Toddler Caregivers, or equivalent credential *must have infant toddler child growth and development coursework or equivalent coursework according to NH State Childcare Licensing.
Previous experience working in an early childhood classroom with supervisory duties preferred.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively communicate with infants, toddlers, and their families and ability to relate comfortably to income-eligible families.
Attention to detail, confidentiality, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive workplace and early childhood classroom experience.
