The instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality course content for Effective Speaking using established departmental outlines and master syllabi. Responsibilities include conducting in-person classes, assessing student performance, grading assignments, and maintaining administrative records.
Sussex County Community College seeks an adjunct to teach Effective Speaking, ENGL 201, for our Fall 2026 semester. An instructor is needed for one three-credit course on Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:50am - 1:40pm starting on September 8, 2026. The course available is in-person on campus at our Newton location.
All instructors are responsible for teaching their assigned courses using a departmentally established course outline based on the master syllabus and assessing the course learning outcomes on the syllabus.
Adjunct Instructors are responsible for providing high-quality delivery of course content to students in accordance with course competencies and College policies, using a variety of instructional techniques, strategies, and modalities/delivery methods.
Qualified candidates must have a master’s degree in communications from a regionally accredited institution. Prior teaching experience at the community college level is strongly preferred.
The Learning Management System (LMS) that we use is Canvas. Prior knowledge of Canvas or a similar learning platform is preferred.
Adjunct pay is based on $910 per credit hour.
