About the role

The classroom teacher assistant supports staff by maintaining a clean and safe environment for children and assisting with daily classroom activities. They collaborate with teachers to foster the physical, emotional, and cognitive development of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

Job Summary The OPS Non-Student Classroom Teacher Assistant assists staff in the classroom with duties such as general cleaning of the classroom, washing dishes, doing laundry, cleaning the playground and other areas of the center as assigned along with assisting with classroom activities with the children after completion of the required training.

Typical duties include, but not limited to: Assists Teachers to ensure the safety and welfare of infants, toddlers, and preschool children. Ensures a clean, orderly, and healthy environment for the center including but not limited to washing dishes and doing laundry and cleaning the playground and classrooms. Collaborate with teachers to create a nurturing and supportive learning environment that fosters the physical, emotional, and cognitive development of children. Follow center policies and procedures, including health and safety protocols, to ensure compliance and minimize risks to children and staff. Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required Must complete 45 DCF training hours within 90 days of hire. Must complete 1-hour DCF Safe Sleep Practices for Child Care within 30 days Must complete 5-hour DCF Child care Personnel Orientation Course within 7 days or 1 hour Universal Precautions/Exposure Training with director. Must complete Infant/adult CPR and first Aid within 90 days. Must complete 5-minute Fire Extinguisher Training by the first day.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to exercise good judgement. Ability to multitask and work under pressure. Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-volume department. Ability to represent the university in a positive and professional manner. Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with university faculty, staff, students, and the general public. Promote a common purpose consistent with stated University goals and demonstrate a commitment to students and the learning environment. Possess the knowledge of general written standards and procedures utilized, and have the ability to read, interpret, and follow procedural and policy manuals related to the job tasks. Demonstrate the ability to respond to supervision, guidance, and direction in a positive, receptive manner and in accordance with stated policies. Provide quality customer service by creating a welcoming and supportive environment. Apply effective techniques to create working relationships with others to achieve common goals; successfully communicate and collaborate with others to achieve goals. Requirements

Candidates must hold a high school diploma or equivalent and complete various mandatory training certifications, including DCF training and CPR/First Aid. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred, along with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
