Job Summary The OPS Non-Student Classroom Teacher Assistant assists staff in the classroom with duties such as general cleaning of the classroom, washing dishes, doing laundry, cleaning the playground and other areas of the center as assigned along with assisting with classroom activities with the children after completion of the required training.
Typical duties include, but not limited to: Assists Teachers to ensure the safety and welfare of infants, toddlers, and preschool children. Ensures a clean, orderly, and healthy environment for the center including but not limited to washing dishes and doing laundry and cleaning the playground and classrooms. Collaborate with teachers to create a nurturing and supportive learning environment that fosters the physical, emotional, and cognitive development of children. Follow center policies and procedures, including health and safety protocols, to ensure compliance and minimize risks to children and staff. High school diploma or equivalent required Must complete 45 DCF training hours within 90 days of hire. Must complete 1-hour DCF Safe Sleep Practices for Child Care within 30 days Must complete 5-hour DCF Child care Personnel Orientation Course within 7 days or 1 hour Universal Precautions/Exposure Training with director. Must complete Infant/adult CPR and first Aid within 90 days. Must complete 5-minute Fire Extinguisher Training by the first day.
Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to exercise good judgement. Ability to multitask and work under pressure. Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-volume department. Ability to represent the university in a positive and professional manner. Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with university faculty, staff, students, and the general public.
