Assistant Swim Coach
The Assistant Swim Coach supports the Competitive Swimming Director in developing swim groups and managing daily practice sessions. Responsibilities include coordinating swim meet entries, attending competitive events, and maintaining clear communication with parents and staff.
New Canaan, CT 06840GENERAL FUNCTION Under the direction of the Competitive Swimming Director, assists in the development of the Pre-Caiman and Pride groups. This includes maintaining a high level of communication with fellow coaches and swim team parents, assisting with daily practices, assisting with the planning of, as well as potentially attending, events (competitive and social) and assisting with swim meet entries for the above-mentioned groups. The Assistant Swim Coach must be able to answer questions pertaining to all levels of the swim team and areas of the YMCA, assist with the operation of all home meets, and attend travel meets scheduled by the Competitive Swimming Director for the above-mentioned groups. KNOW-HOW Previous competitive coaching experience/participation is strongly recommended, as well as strong administrative, organizational, and computer skills. Knowledge of either Hy-Tek or LSA software is preferred.
Certifications in the following safety areas: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguard Training or Safety Training for the Swim Coach, and First Aid.
Other certifications: YMCA Principles of Competitive Swimming and Diving and USA Swimming Foundations of Coaching PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES Report to the Competitive Swimming Director on matters relating to the Pre-Caiman or Pride Team levels. (i.e. assistant coaches, practice schedules, team development, etc.) Keep all required certifications up to date (CPR, Lifeguarding, and First Aid). Perform other duties as designated by the supervisor. Job Description may be changed at any time by supervisor.
Coach will:
Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.
Attend required abuse risk management training.
Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
