Spanish

10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Position Purpose The Spanish instructor works under the supervision of the Academic Dean and is responsible for meeting all scheduled classes and providing instruction in accordance with CECs academic philosophy, goals, and objectives. The Spanish instructor will help develop students' knowledge, skills and abilities in comprehending, speaking, reading and writing Spanish, and will help develop an understanding and appreciation of the native culture of the countries where the language is the primary means of communication. Job Duties Upholds CECs beliefs found on the CEC website. Develops and administers Spanish education curriculum consistent with CECs academic philosophy, goals, and objectives. Develops lesson plans, instructional materials, and activities to enhance learning and to demonstrate the application of course work to everyday life. Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods accordingly. Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to student and small group learning by ensuring student conduct conforms with CECs Student and Family Handbook and CEC policies. Ensures effective communication with students and parents. Organizes and maintains Infinite Campus (IC) for accurate and complete recordkeeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievements, and daily attendance as required in CEC policies. Selects and requisitions appropriate textbooks; instructional aids, supplies, and equipment; and maintains inventory records. Collaborates with other CEC staff members and participates in staff meetings and professional development as requested by the Academic Dean. Continues to acquire professional knowledge and keeps informed of current developments in education. Other duties as assigned. QualificationsQualifications Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university applicable to the teaching assignment, OR Endorsement on a Colorado teaching license, OR 36 semester credit hours in the core subject area, OR Passing score on a State Board of Education approved content exam (currently the ETS Praxis Series).
