Student Assistance Counselor

Student assistance counselors provide prevention, early identification, assessment, intervention, and referral of substance misuse and mental health problems in a school setting. They also conduct screenings, deliver classroom-Based education, and facilitate parent programming.

A master’s degree in a behavioral health specialty is required, along with ri student assistance certification after two years of full-Time employment. Candidates should have knowledge of best practices in substance use prevention and treatment, and must maintain ongoing compliance with professional continuing education requirements.
