The assistant teacher will support the classroom teacher in delivering head start educational services to low-Income children and those with special needs, which includes assisting with assessments, lesson plan implementation, and maintaining a developmentally appropriate classroom environment. Essential duties also involve ensuring continuous child safety, utilizing a pbis approach, preparing instructional materials, and participating in parent engagement activities.
Requirements summary
Candidates should ideally possess a child development associate (Cda) credential, or an associate's or higher degree in early childhood education or a related field, along with experience in an early childhood education setting. Required abilities include effectively working with low-Income and special needs children, positive family interaction, using positive behavior redirection, maintaining certifications like first aid/Cpr and a food handler's card, and passing a state of oregon criminal background registry check.
