The occupational therapist provides occupational therapy to patients to restore physical and mental functioning. They may also supervise certified occupational therapy assistants and aides.

Candidates must have a certificate or degree from an accredited occupational therapy school and be licensed by the state if required. Certification from the national board for certification in occupational therapy, inc. (Nbcot) is also necessary.
