The Residential Counselor is responsible for supervising deaf and hard of hearing children and youth with special needs, including those with mental health and traumatic backgrounds, during both in and out-of-school hours. Duties include planning growth-promoting activities, assisting with personal care, and implementing Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS).
Candidates must be able to work collaboratively, anticipate and de-escalate behavior issues, demonstrate good judgment, and resolve conflicts effectively, while maintaining high levels of patience and empathy. A High School diploma is required, with a minimum recommended age of 23, and the ability or willingness to learn American Sign Language (ASL) is mandatory.

Under the supervision of the Associate Director if Student Life, Dean of Students, and/or Coordinator of Student Support Services, the Residential Counselor is responsible for the supervision of children and adolescents during school and/or out-of-school hours and the assumption of other responsibilities as needed.
