About Summer Rise Summer Rise is a summer learning initiative of the Bill and Crissy Haslam Foundation. This program is designed to support Knox County students in overcoming summer learning loss while strengthening essential literacy and math skills. Together, we create a summer experience where students can grow as learners, build confidence, and reconnect with the joy of learning.
Summer Rise provides rising 1st through 8th grade students with structured instruction in literacy and math using Lavinia’s curriculum, grounded in the science of reading. Operating across locations in Knoxville (including Emerald Youth Foundation), Summer Rise offers a high-impact academic experience.
About Emerald Youth Foundation Since 1991, Emerald Youth Foundation has worked to support Knoxville’s youth and prepare generations of Godly community leaders. Emerald Youth has engaged more than 30,000 children and young adults in a variety of community programs over nearly three decades. Every year, Emerald Youth serves more than 3,000 children, teens and young adults in the heart of Knoxville through faith, learning and health programs.
Summer Rise Teacher Job Summary This opportunity is open to certified teachers, student teachers, college students pursuing education, and those who may have school classroom experience (e.g. ATs). Summer Rise Teachers must be passionate about supporting student growth and committed to their faith. Teachers will work with rising 1st through rising 8th grade students at Emerald Youth's Emerald Avenue JustLead Summer Day Camp.
Program Timeline Training
