Job description

The Middle School Social Studies Teacher for Immaculate Conception Catholic School located in Baltimore County, would be responsible for all lessons in Social Studies to students in grades 6th-8th. The middle school Social Studies teacher is responsible for implementing daily standard-based lessons to support student’s acquisition and application of the Social Studies curriculum aligned with the standards of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Please note this position is for the 2026-2027 school year. The position hours are 7:30a.m. - 3:30p.m.

  • Essential Functions
  • Foster opportunities for children to grow in social and emotional development.
  • Develop and document daily lesson plans consistent with Archdiocesan curriculum guidelines.
  • Maintain high professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teaching of the Catholic Church.
  • Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times, including effective classroom management.
  • Implement lesson plans, utilizing techniques to motivate, challenge, engage and inspire students to think confidently and independently.
  • Integrate the use of technology appropriately and effectively into the curriculum.
  • Establish reasonable standards for student achievement.
  • Interact effectively and respond to all parent communications in a professional, empathetic, and timely manner. Engage parents in opportunities for partnership, enrichment, and support.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, collaborative planning meetings, retreats, school committees, and in-service learning opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administration.
  • Position Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary or Secondary Education (concentration in History/Social Studies preferred).
  • Current MSDE certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience (teaching middle/high school Social Studies preferred).
  • Experience in a Catholic School setting is preferred.
  • Must be comfortable with technology to include integration in daily lessons.
  • Must have a commitment to Catholic School education.
