Job Summary

  • The School Psychologist provides comprehensive psychological services to support students’ academic achievement, social-emotional development, and mental health. This role includes conducting evaluations, developing interventions, and collaborating with educators, families, and community agencies to promote student well-being and success.

  • Responsibilities:
  • Conduct psychoeducational evaluations to determine students’ cognitive, academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Interpret evaluation results and prepare written reports to support eligibility for special education and related services.
  • Participate in the development, review, and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Section 504 Plans.
  • Provide individual and group counseling to students on academic, behavioral, and social-emotional issues.
  • Design and support interventions to address learning difficulties and behavioral concerns.
  • Consult and collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and outside providers to support student needs.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support in emergency situations.
  • Contribute to school-wide initiatives that promote positive behavior, social skills, and safe learning environments.
  • Stay current with best practices, ethical standards, and legal requirements related to school psychology.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Specialist-level degree in School Psychology required
  • Current state certification/licensure as a School Psychologist.
  • Knowledge of special education laws (IDEA, Section 504, ADA) and evaluation procedures.
  • Strong skills in assessment, data interpretation, counseling, and consultation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations and students with a wide range of needs.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to conduct assessments with students of varying ages and abilities.

Work Environment

  • Work performed in school settings including classrooms, offices, and meeting spaces.
  • Collaboration with teachers, administrators, parents, and community agencies.
  • May require travel between schools within the district.
