Are you a passionate Dental Hygienist ready to share your clinical mastery with the next generation? As a Dental Hygiene Clinic Instructor, you will step away from the traditional operatory to become a mentor and evaluator. You will oversee student-led hygiene services at our Albuquerque campus, ensuring that every patient receives high-quality care while every student achieves the clinical proficiency needed to excel in the field.

Essential Functions • Clinical Supervision

  • Oversee and evaluate students in clinical and preclinical settings using established rubrics and competency assessments to ensure patient safety and skill mastery.
  • Chairside
  • Instruction: Provide real-time guidance on instrumentation, radiography, restorative functions (as permitted by NM state law), infection control, and patient management.
  • Process of
  • Care: Assist students in developing comprehensive treatment plans and implementing the professional dental hygiene process of care.
  • Documentation &
  • Tech: Accurately track student progress in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and institutional assessment platforms.
  • Compliance
  • Leadership: Strictly enforce and reinforce OSHA, CDC, HIPAA, and institutional safety protocols.
  • Professional
  • Calibration: Participate in regular faculty calibration meetings to maintain consistent grading and clinical expectations across the Albuquerque program.
  • Student
  • Advocacy: Provide tutoring assistance and collaborate with the Student Services Coordinator for students requiring specialized support or remediation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Associate degree in dental hygiene from an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or CHEA.
  • Accreditation: Must be a graduate of a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of full-time clinical experience as a dental hygienist.
  • Licensure: Must hold and maintain a current New Mexico dental hygiene license and all required certifications (including CPR).
  • Skills: Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and dental software (Dentrix/Eaglesoft preferred).
