Job description

Job Overview

The teacher’s aide is an integral part of the children’s team and is responsible for supporting the teacher by facilitating a safe, productive classroom/nursery environment where infants/children's educational/ child development needs are met. The primary responsibility of a teacher’s aide is to support the lead teacher by supervising young children, assisting with activities, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.

IHW is an evidence-based/ supported holistic substance use program for pregnant and parenting women with up to 3 children. IHW is in the Parkside section of Philadelphia. The program has the capacity to serve 22 women and up to 45 children ( ages 0 to 12) at any given time.

IHW serves women who suffer from addiction and/or trauma related disorder; many are referred from the criminal justice system.

Responsibilities

  • Implementing daily, age-appropriate activities.
  • Supporting classroom weekly lesson plans
  • Monitor infants/children in the classroom and playground
  • Assisting with hygiene ( handwashing), diapering/toileting, and nap time supervision.
  • Assist with Parenting and Children Development time
  • Assist with Parenting
  • Provide daily/weekly parent feedback forms
  • Assist with parent-teacher night.
  • Provide one-on-one parenting for new mothers.
  • Assist with summer camp planning and implementation
  • Provide feedback in children’s team meetings.

Safety

• maintaining a clean, organized, and secure classroom.

Experience

• 1 year of prior experience in childcare, babysitting, or daycare.

Education Requirement

• High School Diploma or GED
