Breast Feeding Peer Counselor-Mercer/Raleigh WIC

The peer counselor provides basic breastfeeding information and encouragement to wic pregnant and breastfeeding mothers through scheduled telephone, home, and hospital visits, while also counseling women directly in the wic clinic. Key duties include managing a caseload, providing support on common breastfeeding concerns, maintaining strict confidentiality, and making necessary referrals to other health and social service professionals.

Candidates must have personally breastfed at least one child and must be enthusiastic about supporting other mothers in having a positive breastfeeding experience. Essential requirements include the ability to work at least 8 hours weekly and possessing a telephone for making and receiving necessary client calls.
