Job description

  • Overview The mission of BCYF is to enhance the quality of life of Boston's residents by partnering with various organizations to offer a wide range of comprehensive programs and activities according to neighborhood needs and interests.
  • BCYF offers a wide range of affordable programs including preschool, school-aged and adult education, family literacy, youth employment, violence prevention and intervention, senior activities, and recreation and enrichment.
  • BCYF's 35 facilities are located throughout Boston.
  • In the early 1970s, as new school buildings sprang up all over Boston, residents felt strongly that these buildings should be used as community resources and offer community programming when school was not in session.

  • Duties and Responsibilities

    • The Program Assistants will assist the Community Center staff with the implementation of out-of-school time youth programs and activities (Sport Clinics, Sewing Club, Coding Club, Teen Open Gym, Drop-in Youth Center, etc.) that enrich the students creatively, academically, socially, and physically. Key Responsibilities: - Actively participate in all the programs and activities. - Take attendance for all youth participants. - Supervise youth participants to ensure safety and engagement. - Help engage participants in the activity, providing support and encouragement. - Set up and break down the program equipment before and after activities. - Clean and disinfect program areas and equipment to maintain a hygienic environment. - Maintain a safe, clean, engaging, and inclusive environment for all youth participants. - Assist in program planning and coordination as needed. - Foster positive relationships with participants, encouraging teamwork and respect. - Monitor behavior and intervene as necessary to promote positive interactions. - Support staff with various administrative duties such as filing and organizing materials.
