The On-Call Substitute Teacher supports daily classroom operations when regular teachers are absent by assisting in implementing high-quality learning experiences, daily lesson planning, and interacting with parents and volunteers. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate records, supervising children's health and safety, and ensuring the cleanliness of the learning environment.
Candidates must possess proper training in Early Childhood Education, such as a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA), an associate’s degree in child development, or equivalent continuing education approved by the Michigan Department of Education. Preferred qualifications include one year of preschool teaching experience and familiarity with the HighScope approach, alongside strong positive communication and cultural sensitivity.

The On-Call Substitutes supports classroom operations at the Children’s Learning Center (CLC) by maintaining compliance with Michigan childcare licensing rules, ensuring child safety, and supporting continuity of care. Substitutes will be assigned based on qualification level and may function either as support staff or as classroom lead depending on credentials: Substitute Child Care Assistant, Substitute Assistant Teacher, or Substitute Lead Teacher.
On-call during the hours of 8:30am-4:30pm Monday through Friday based on your availability.
