- Function: Under the supervision of a Speech and Language Pathologist, the Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) provides services to students with disabilities in accordance with IEP goals; assists in case management of services to students; maintains records and documentation. The SLPA focuses on developing students’ oral communication skills to support their ability to access their educational program.

- SLPA will: Provide direct treatment to students with speech-language impairments Conduct speech-language screening using age-appropriate screening protocols developed by the supervising Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Develop and implement educationally-based IEP communication goals using a variety of service delivery models to support the classroom curriculum Follow and implement treatment plans Document student progress towards meeting established goals and objectives Assist SLP in conducting formal assessments, preparing materials, and performing clerical duties for a supervising SLP Participate in IEP meetings of students on assigned caseload Collaborate with teachers to ensure that students meet the goals outlined in their IEPs Provide individualized classroom strategies to facilitate specific communication skills Communicate with families of students on assigned caseload regarding progress toward IEP goals Participate as a member of the Special Education team Manage special projects as they relate to Special Education Communications Communicate effectively, both orally & in writing, with students, parents, & other professionals routinely. Respond to parent and colleague communications in a respectful and timely manner. Complete and submit weekly lesson plans to supervisor and involved colleagues in a timely manner. Complete and submit quarterly progress reports and/or narratives in a timely manner. Participate professionally in scheduled meetings (grade level; faculty; Whole Child Assessments; Professional Development, etc.). Professionalism and Teamwork Model professional behaviors and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and the broader community. Maintain reliable, consistent attendance and punctuality.

- QualificationsMinimum
- Qualifications: (*) A bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology or communication disorders from an institution listed in the Accredited Institutions of Postsecondary Education handbook and completion of 100 hours of fieldwork or clinical experience from a Board-approved program; (*) TB Test clearance & DOJ fingerprinting clearance; (*) Possess/maintain valid infant, child and Adult CPR/First Aid/AED certification
