Core responsibilities
The special education teacher is responsible for providing an instructional program tailored to the individual educational needs of students with emotional and behavioral disabilities, including developing goals and implementing individual education programs (Ieps). This role involves providing direct instruction, monitoring student progress related to ieps, and collaborating within a trans-Disciplinary team to implement data-Based instructional programs.
Requirements summary
Candidates must possess a bachelor's or master's degree in education and hold or be eligible for the appropriate colorado educator licensure, along with experience working with at-Risk adolescents. Essential qualifications include strong organizational skills, knowledge of ieps and special education laws, and the ability to manage and de-Escalate challenging student behaviors.
