Job description

Are you passionate about sparking curiosity and creativity in children? RAFT is looking for an energetic Camp Lead Teacher to facilitate and deliver our dynamic STEAM curriculum and create meaningful learning experiences for K–5 campers. Working closely with staff counselors, you’ll help bring lessons to life while maintaining an engaging, well-managed classroom environment. This is a perfect opportunity for an educator with strong classroom management skills who wants to make a lasting impact while upholding RAFT’s high standards for camp facilitation.

  • What You’ll Do Bring RAFT’s hands-on lessons to life, adapting activities as needed to ensure every camper is inspired and engaged.
  • Manage a group of up to 24 campers, fostering collaboration, fun, and respect while maintaining an organized and clean space.
  • Participate in at least 9 hours of onboarding, professional development, and staff meetings prior to camp.
  • Operate with minimal supervision from the Site Director, showing initiative and flexibility throughout the day.
  • Supervise any assigned support staff, and share feedback during after-camp debrief sessions and surveys.
  • What We’re Looking For Genuine interest in working with children in K–5 education settings.
  • Availability to commit to at least one week (five days).
  • Ability to quickly learn and facilitate new materials with creativity and patience.
  • Strong multitasking, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Must obtain TB Risk Assessment and fingerprint clearance (paid for by RAFT).
  • CBEST, valid California Teaching Credential, or enrollment/completion of a teaching credential program.
  • At least one year of teaching or student program management experience.
