The Department of Physical Therapy is currently seeking a part time Physical Therapist Assistant 2 to work in Miami, FL. The Physical Therapy Assistant 2 assists with a patient's rehabilitative activities, and additionally provides administrative assistance for business operations and service delivery in the UHealth Physical Therapy clinic locations. The Physical Therapy Assistant 2 helps with the management of day-to-day operations, assists in supervision of therapy staff, and assists in efficient management of quality service. The incumbent ensures effective and efficient workflow / staffing, marketing of services, assists in program development as needed, and assists with supervision and direction of quality improvement activities. CORE JOB FUNCTIONS Provides physical therapy treatment to patients in accordance with an established treatment plan as directed by a physical therapist. Demonstrates knowledge and ability to apply therapeutic principles and practices within the scope of professional limitations. Progresses patients skillfully and safely through the levels of treatment within the maximum capabilities of the patient. Consults with supervising Physical Therapist regarding patient progress and changes in patient’s condition, or with suggestions for revisions in treatment. Documents all treatment and other pertinent patient interaction in accordance with UHealth policies. Develops and maintains effective communication with the patient, family, and other members of the rehabilitation team. Provides relevant education and information to patient and family regarding medical conditions, home programs and home activities. Utilizes treatment tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner. Maintains a satisfactory level of productivity and demonstrates willingness to adjust personal schedule in case of crisis and real clinic need. Participates in quality and safety improvement activities. Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal, local, and state guidelines and regulations, with strict adherence to HIPPA regulations. Serve as a resource for management in day-to-day operations. Acts as a collaborator, trainer, and a mentor for fellow PTA staff and Clinic Assistants through example and direct clinical support. Participate in the department’s educational mission of clinical instruction as needed. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Assist in ensuring employee issues and patient needs are brought to the attention of the Clinic Manager. Assist with unforeseen staffing challenges, absorbing caseloads, as needed and appropriate. Work with department leadership and other team members to, quality improvement programs and operational projects. Work with department leadership and other team members to implement effective marketing and PR activities, as needed. Engage in professional development activities, continuing education, and advocacy for the profession of physical therapy. Completion of 50 hours of live CEUs in relevant specialty area. Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.
