Job description
Title: Apprentice in Speech-Language (ASL)
Job Category: Service Provider
Reports to: Program Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary
- Assists the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in client screenings, assessment, and evaluation processes.
- Implements speech-language therapy treatment plans as determined by the supervising SLP.
- Informs the SLP of client status change, upcoming reassessment/assessment dates and any other relevant information regarding client care.
- Assists the SLP in insuring a collaborative supervisory process.
- Assists in the maintenance of a safe and orderly operating business and maintains equipment as assigned.
- Participates in educational, research, and quality improvement projects.
Qualifications
- License or eligibility for licensure as an Apprentice in Speech-Language with the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department.
- Enrolled in a graduate program from Accredited Communication Disorders program.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Works towards fulfilling Amplified Therapy, Inc.’s (Company) Values, Vision, and Mission
- Performs a variety of therapy procedures on assigned caseload as directed by the SLP.
- Assists the SLP in all aspects of the SLP process.
- Attends meetings (IEP, IFSP, Team Conferences) as assigned to discuss student treatment programs and speech-language therapy concerns.
- Participates in team discussions in an articulate, positive, and productive manner.
- Maintains assigned equipment in proper working order. Performs routines repairs.
- Instructs staff, as assigned, in principles used in occupational including but not limited tothe areas of language, speech, voice, and fluency techniques specific to individual needs.
- Adheres to established Company guidelines within Company’s Official Documents.
- May represent the Company while participating in community outreach events, activities, meetings, trainings, etc.
- Completes all documentation in a timely manner.
- Attends departmental/business staff development activities.
- Adheres to ASL licensure requirements.
- Participates in Company’s Professional Development Plan.
- Carries out all responsibilities professionally and efficiently.
- Maintains effective communications at all levels; within the work setting and company.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Conditions/Physical Requirements
- Due to the nature of the Company, service delivery settings will vary. Must be able to adapt to a variety of settings and be willing to work in clinical, community, and home settings.
- Work area may be crowded.
- Working schedule may vary due to the nature of the business.
- Duties may involve being on one’s feet for extended periods.
- Duties may involve traveling to and from areas within the western region of New Mexico.
- Duties may involve exposure to hazardous conditions using power tools, contagious diseases, and chemicals to repair/adjust patient equipment.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
