- SUMMARY: Speech therapy focuses on the improvement of language, communication, swallowing, and fluency. One of the most common symptoms that we treat is dysphagia, which refers to difficulty swallowing. Dysphagia can be caused by a stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, cancer, or healing from a physical injury, and can affect your tongue, mouth, throat, or esophagus.
Responsibilities
Evaluation & Planning - Perform a complete initial evaluation of referred patient; develop and implement treatment plans, including appropriate short- and long-term goals; involve the patient, family, and staff in the implementation of the treatment program; re-evaluate patient's functional status progressively; advance patient toward maximal performance and functional independence. Documentation - Maintain a complete documentation of patient evaluations, treatment, progress, and discharge status; send required information to appropriate professionals. Collaboration - Actively participate in rehabilitation team efforts to meet patient needs, including counseling and teaching patient and family, discussing changes in treatment programs with MDs, coordinating healthcare plans with other involved professionals, and assisting in discharge planning as appropriate. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders (may be MA, MS, Med). New York State licensure OR For recent graduates: Completion of at least 9 months supervised Clinical Fellowship year OR Eligible to participate in supervised Clinical Fellowship year by a NYS licensed Speech Language Pathologist with a NYS Limited permit and followed by the NYS licensure examination and achievement of NYS license.

For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. PAY RANGE: $50.00 - $50.00 CITY: Rochester POSTAL CODE: 14621 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
