Job description

  • Looking for applicants with week-day morning availability (ex. Monday/Wednesday/Friday 8am to 12pm)!
  • Swim instructors should have knowledge of all 4 competitive strokes and 2 safety strokes and have experience working with children
  • Swim instructors should be able to pass a traditional swim test demonstrating moderate ability in 4 competitive strokes and have the ability to provide in water correction effectively.
  • OCY will pay for Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification. Additionally, you will be paid for the training.
  • Free Y membership with employment and paid training**

Qualifications

  • Provide quality swim instruction in-line with American Red Cross Swim Lesson Curriculum. Willing to obtain proper training certifications
  • Maintain accurate records for swim participant progress, ensure communication to caregivers regarding expectations, skills progress, next steps, etc
  • Work as part of a team committed to building confidence, friendships and skills among participants. Actively work to be a dependable team member and coach.
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Minimum 16 years old
  • Current in either Red Cross, YMCA or Ellis and current certification in CPR, First Aid, AED and O2 (training opportunities provided)
  • Must be able to swim 50 yards (2 pool lengths) of one stroke or a combination of strokes
  • Must be able to tread water without hands for 1 minute
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of basic swim techniques
  • Complete program specific and employee orientation training by required timeline.
