Job description
- Access Services is seeking to hire a high-energy and self-motivated Starting Point Intern who is pursuing a Master's level degree to join our Starting Point Mobile Psychiatric Rehabilitation program in Bucks County with an office based in Warminster, PA. The Starting Point program offers support to individuals in the unique model of Psych Rehab, serving those with a mental health diagnosis, to reach their own, personally identified goals. People need extra help to get back on their feet, find a place to live, and become a part of community life. Our behavior health support team meets with individuals in their own spaces to help them on their recovery journey. Internship will provide learning outcomes, including: Impactful and foundational relational skills, transferable to any therapy or counseling work, hospital social work, community-based work, mobile work, and work across the human services field. Learning to work with an Electronic Health Record (Evolv) Will be trained and utilized similarly to staff, to provide the most client facing experiences possible. Interacting one on one with clients after the orientation period is completed. Will be learning skills of engagement with people across the spectrum of mental health needs. Internship Hours: A minimum of 16 hours/weekly is preferred; Available internship hours range from 7am-6pm, Monday-Friday. No evening or weekend hours are available. This internship can be completed in one, or two semesters for those needing additional academic credit. Qualifications of a Starting Point Intern: Completed Bachelor’s degree; must be currently pursuing a Masters Degree in social work or a psychology related field, and require school credit for this internship. Proof of a completed Bachelor’s degree is required. The intern will be trained in office. After the orientation period ends, the intern will be required to work independently with clients, be present in their homes, and drive clients in their vehicle during internship hours. Required Transportation: A valid US driver’s license for at least two years, not including time with permit. No serious traffic convictions within the past three years. (Serious convictions include, but are not limited to, DUI, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, or three or more traffic violations and/or at-fault accidents within that period.) Access to a reliable vehicle during work hours. Vehicle must have valid registration and inspection stickers. Valid auto insurance. You will be asked to provide proof that you are a covered driver on the policy. Required Clearances, to be completed before first day of internship, including: FBI Clearance DMV Driving History Report PA Criminal Clearance Child Abuse Clearance
- Detailed instructions and guidance regarding the clearance process will be provided directly by Human Resources upon selection.
- Essential Working Conditions/Physical Demands: Work in program sites and the community routinely providing support to clients and use knowledge of mental health systems in the county to connect people with proper support. Work in a standard office environment. Utilize desktop computer equipment daily. Able to lift or move items associated with sedentary work and light work (exert up to 20 lbs.)
