Job description
Description Providence School of Jacksonville is seeking a qualified and dedicated Head Athletic Trainer to serve as the primary sports medicine provider for student-athletes in grades 6–12. This individual will oversee the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries, while ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all athletes.
Key Responsibilities
Athletic Healthcare & Injury Management Serve as the primary athletic trainer for all middle school and high school athletic programs (grades 6–12) Provide on-site coverage for all home athletic events and away varsity football games Evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate athletic injuries Develop and implement injury prevention programs Concussion Management Coordinate and administer baseline concussion testing using Concussion Vital Signs software Manage return-to-play protocols in accordance with FHSAA and school policies Documentation & Record Keeping Maintain accurate and up-to-date injury and treatment records using Healthy Roster Ensure compliance with school, state, and legal documentation standards Care Coordination & Communication Facilitate referrals to team physicians at Southeast Orthopedic Specialists Communicate effectively with coaches, parents, and healthcare providers regarding athlete care and status Program Administration Coordinate additional athletic training coverage for events as needed Assist in the development and implementation of sports medicine policies and procedures Maintain athletic training facilities, equipment, and supplies
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training Current certification through the Board of Certification (BOC) Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Athletic Trainer in the state of Florida Current CPR/AED certification Experience in a secondary school or similar setting preferred Skills & Attributes Strong clinical decision-making and injury evaluation skills Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends Strong organizational and documentation skills Ability to work independently while collaborating with coaches and medical professionals Work Schedule Full-time position Hours include afternoon Athletic Training Rooms Coverage, after-school practices, evenings, and weekend athletic events Preferred Experience (Optional) Experience with concussion management software (e.g., Concussion Vital Signs) Familiarity with electronic medical records systems (e.g., Healthy Roster) Previous experience coordinating care with orthopedic providers
