- Summary: The teacher holds primary responsibility for the implementation and development of Milwaukee College Prep’s curriculum and the success of its students.
- Essential
- Functions: Deliver high-quality instruction and early learning experiences aligned with MCP’s standards Maintain a healthy and orderly classroom environment in accordance to DCF 251 licensing Use developmentally appropriate assessments and scholar portfolios to track growth and inform instruction Collaborate openly with colleagues to plan lessons, reflect on instruction, and share best practices Uphold and reinforce MCP’s culture, policies, and core values every day Build strong, trust-based relationships with families and communicate frequently Direct and support educational assistants and volunteers to foster a productive classroom culture and to lead small groups Attend and engage in regularly school-wide events, staff meetings, one one one meetings, conferences, and professional development Occasionally attend and engage in parent participation events and other events that may be on evenings Consistently model the joy, love, and excellence we expect from our scholars Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by school leadership Observe, record, and report on the behavior of individual children as assigned

- Conditions: The majority of this job involves walking or standing, mostly indoors with the exception of playground duty, dismissal, fire drills, and outdoor field trips. Perform physical tasks including lifting up to 40 pounds and bending frequently throughout the day. Qualifications
Early Childhood Registry Credential or minimum of 18 college credits (Level 9 on WI Registry) Associates Degree in Early Childhood (or a Bachelor's Degree in another field) is preferred or in the process of completing Required Early Childhood Education (ECE) certification (completed coursework or equivalent in Intro to Childcare and Skills & Strategies) Annual certification in Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting (completed before working with scholars) CPR and Abusive Head Trauma Training (Shaking Baby Syndrome) Prior experience working with children, preferably in an early childhood setting Skills/Attributes: Must have a belief in and be in alignment with Milwaukee College Prep’s core beliefs and educational philosophy. Must be passionate about teaching and tenacious in ensuring each scholar’s success.
