The Water Exercise Instructor leads water fitness classes aimed at improving strength, endurance, flexibility, and balance. They create an inclusive and motivating environment for participants of all ages and abilities.
Candidates should be at least 18 years old and preferably have experience as a fitness or swim instructor. A valid driver's license and knowledge of fitness class techniques are also required.

As a Water Exercise Instructor, you’ll lead water fitness classes designed to improve strength, endurance, flexibility, and balance with the natural support and resistance of water. You’ll bring energy and encouragement to every splash, creating an inclusive and motivating environment where members of all ages and abilities can thrive. You are responsible for creating and presenting each class in a way to deliver the best possible experience. You are in a position to have a major impact on our ability to attract and retain members.

Under the supervision of the Group Fitness Director, the Water Exercise Instructor is responsible for instructing, coaching and leading Water Exercise group classes in a safe, enjoyable, positive and inclusive environment that welcomes people of all skill and fitness levels. Effectively builds community within the class. Modify class as needed to meet varied health, ability and cultural needs.
Accepts and demonstrates the Ys values. Demonstrates a desire to serve others and fulfill community needs. Recruits volunteers and builds effective, supportive working relationships with them. Supports fund-raising.
Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions. Builds rapport and relates well to others. Seeks first to understand the other person’s point of view, and remains calm in challenging situations. Listens for understanding and meaning; speaks and writes effectively. Takes initiative to assist in developing others.

Establishes goals, clarifies tasks, plans work, and actively participates in meetings. Follows budgeting policies and procedures, and reports all financial irregularities immediately. Strives to meet or exceed goals and deliver a high-value experience for members.

Accurately assesses personal feelings, strengths, and limitations and how they impact relationships. Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology.
1. Minimum 18 years of age. 2. Fitness instructor and/or swim instructor experience preferred. 3. Able to motivate and encourage individuals through positive attitudes and enthusiasm. 4. Basic knowledge of the components and techniques for teaching fitness classes. 5. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
