Job description

Are you passionate about sports and love working with kids? The Old Colony YMCA in East Bridgewater is looking for energetic, positive leaders to coach and inspire young athletes in fun, foundational sports programs like basketball, flag football, volleyball, soccer, and more! This is a great opportunity to share your skills, stay active, and make a real impact in your community.

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need to be a pro athlete—but if you’ve played or coached team sports before, even better! What really matters is your enthusiasm, patience, and ability to engage young athletes while teaching them the basics of teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical fitness.

Job Duties may include

  • Instruction of assigned classes, teaching proper techniques and form of appropriate skills
  • To have good sports skills and experience of the class, gym and outdoor areas
  • To keep accurate attendance records and class records
  • To evaluate students ability level(s)
  • To explain progress and procedures to parents
  • To prepare gym/outdoor areas with necessary equipment/supplies
  • To maintain order and safety in class
  • Instruction of proper use of youth exercise equipment
  • Be informed of all current and/or upcoming programs and special events in order to interpret YMCA membership and program information to members and potential members to increase their participation in each area.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 16 years of age.
  • Prior experience in sports instruction, implementation, organization and supervision preferred.
  • Ability to work and interact positively with people of all ages.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. Must be able to walk, stand, stoop and bend during the work day.
  • Knowledge of various sports and game modifications including but not limited to flag football, basketball and soccer.
