Position Overview The Charter Middle School for Law and Social Justice is seeking a Middle School Humanities Special Education Teacher who is passionate about education and comfortable integrating technology into instruction. The ideal candidate will design engaging, standards-aligned learning experiences that promote curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving while leveraging digital tools to enhance student learning. Key Responsibilities Plan and implement engaging lessons aligned with New York State Learning Standards Utilize Understanding by Design (UbD) to develop purposeful unit and lesson plans Incorporate hands-on learning, inquiry-based instruction, and technology integration into lessons Use instructional technology platforms such as Apple Classroom, Formative, and other digital tools to enhance instruction and track student progress Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners and varying academic needs Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction Maintain a structured, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture Provide clear and timely feedback to students and families regarding academic progress Collaborate with colleagues and instructional leaders to strengthen instruction and student outcomes Participate in professional development, grade team meetings, and school-wide initiatives Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, English, or a related field Minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience, preferably at the middle school level New York State Teaching Certification in a related field (or actively working toward certification) Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills Ability to create a structured, engaging, and student-centered learning environment Experience teaching Humanities
- related subjects at the middle school level Demonstrated success working in urban, diverse, or non-traditional school settings Experience integrating instructional technology platforms such as Apple Classroom, Formative, or LockDown Browser to enhance instruction, student engagement, and assessment.
