Position Summary

The Secondary Teacher delivers high school-level instruction in a content area, preparing students for academic achievement, career readiness, and postsecondary success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate secondary subject-area endorsement, or eligibility for certification through the Michigan State Board of Education
  • Candidates who do not yet hold a Michigan teaching certificate may qualify through enrollment in GEE's Career Advancement Program (CAP), which provides a supported pathway to Michigan certification. CAP eligibility is determined at the time of application.

  • Collaborate with colleagues on cross-curricular planning and vertical alignment
  • Communicate regularly with students, families, and counselors on progress and next steps
  • Engage in professional development and continuous improvement of instructional practice

Physical requirements

Must be able to perform the physical demands of the role, including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, and standing for extended periods. Work environment includes elevated noise levels.
