RISE Academy is seeking a passionate PE Teacher to join our team for the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will foster a positive and inclusive athletic culture, promote lifelong fitness habits, and deliver developmentally appropriate physical education instruction that supports student wellbeing and holistic growth in a faith-based environment.
Key Responsibilities Plan, develop, and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the school’s physical activity, fitness, and exercise program, with written evidence of preparation as required Teach a range of age-appropriate skills, fitness concepts, sports, and movement activities that promote student wellbeing and confidence Provide instruction that reflects accommodations for differences in student abilities and learning styles Modify activities and curriculum as needed for students with disabilities, including implementing adaptive PE strategies when applicable and aligned with IEP guidelines Maintain a safe learning environment by teaching and reinforcing proper stretching, warm-ups, technique, and safety expectations Establish clear routines and effective behavior expectations that support a respectful, active, and inclusive learning environment Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, teachers, and administrators regarding student progress, participation, and wellbeing Participate in staff professional development and collaboration as appropriate Complete required documentation for students participating in special programs as required by state and federal guidelines Abide by the staff handbook and all school policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations Assist with school events, athletic activities, and extracurricular programs as needed Perform other duties as assigned
Associate degree from an accredited institution in Education or a related field (or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience) Demonstrated physical fitness and ability to safely lead physical activity for students across grades 4–12 Knowledge of a variety of sports, games, fitness principles, and engaging physical activities Understanding of student disabilities and adaptive PE techniques where applicable Strong understanding of stretching, injury prevention, and safety best practices Ability to manage groups effectively and maintain positive, consistent expectations for student behavior Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to modify instruction to support a range of learners Comfort using technology tools and equipment including email, internet, word processing/spreadsheets, and classroom equipment (e.g., projectors/printers) Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment Alignment with RISE Academy’s mission and comfort working in a faith-based school setting
2+ years of experience teaching PE, sports, or activities in a formal setting Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Education or a related field Coaching experience and/or experience supporting school athletics or extracurricular sports
Physical Requirements and Work Environment Ability to stand, walk, and demonstrate movement for extended periods indoors and outdoors Ability to occasionally lift/carry up to 20 pounds (sports equipment and supplies) Ability to supervise students during active movement and outdoor activities in varying weather conditions Ability to maintain a safe, organized, hazard-free activity space and adhere to safe working practices
Compensation Compensation is based on teaching credentials (credentialed vs. non-credentialed), years of experience, academic degrees, and coaching certifications. Children of staff members may be eligible for tuition discounts.
