As an integral part of ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church Continuously grow in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed Serve students needing additional individual or small group instruction Mental/Physical Demands: Regular bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and balancing Ability to left 10 pounds or more Ability to maintain composure under duress QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, with 12 hours in education or a valid state certificate as specified by the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops’ Education Department and the Diocese of Corpus Christi Training and experience in the Science of Teaching Reading, Fountas & Pinnell Phonetics screening, and Orton & Gillingham Dyslexia Training Teachers of Religion must fulfill the 150-hour minimum requirements for religious education Non-Catholic teachers are required to have a knowledge of the Catholic faith and support the goals of Catholic tradition in education Teaching experience at the elementary level is preferred Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with diocesan policies and procedures Valid Texas driver’s license Must be 21 years old or older Additional Requirements: Must successfully complete criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review, and drug screening Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources is required Must adhere to all diocesan policies and procedures Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of child development, learning, and behavior Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously Skill in pacing and differentiating instruction Skill in motivating and engaging students in the learning process Skill in organizing and relating information in an understandable format Skill in using job-appropriate technology such as Learning Ally and Accelerated Reading Skill in critical thinking and planning Skill in demonstrating professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits Skill in collaborating with peers to enhance the work environment and support instructional planning Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding school matters Ability to manage student behavior in a classroom setting Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form Ability to work well with others in the school community Ability to conference with parents upon request and respond to messages in a timely manner Ability to demonstrate gains in student performance that are in keeping with school goals Ability to respond to individual learning needs Ability to track student performance and help students realize growth To be considered for employment with the Diocese of Corpus Christi locations, all interested individuals must complete the online application at
