Job Summary

As a Middle School English Teacher, you will have a significant impact on the academic development of middle school students. Your role involves designing and delivering engaging English language and literature lessons, fostering a love for reading and writing, nurturing critical thinking and communication skills, and fostering the physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and spiritual growth of the student. You should create an environment that encourages students to explore the world of literature, express themselves effectively, and excel in the subject.

  • Development: Develop and deliver dynamic lesson plans and teaching materials that align with English curriculum standards. Customize instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities within middle and high school levels. Incorporate technology and educational resources to enhance classroom experiences.

2) Classroom Management

Establish and maintain an inclusive and respectful classroom environment that promotes active learning. Implement effective behavior management strategies and promote positive classroom conduct. Cultivate a culture of reading, critical analysis, and effective written and verbal communication.

3) Assessment and Progress Monitoring

Regularly assess student progress through various methods, including exams, essays, class discussions, and projects. Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate results to parents and guardians. Collaborate with colleagues and school administrators to review and analyze student data.

4) Parent and Guardian Engagement

Foster open and effective communication with parents and guardians to discuss students' academic progress. Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school events. Contribute to building a collaborative home-school partnership.

5) Professional Development

Stay current with literature, educational trends, teaching methodologies, and advancements in the field. Attend professional development sessions, workshops, and conferences as necessary. Collaborate with fellow educators to share best practices. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Encourage and support students' participation in literary and language-related extracurricular activities. Provide guidance and mentorship to students interested in exploring literature, writing, and language beyond the classroom.

Requirements

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in education, English, or a related field, required. Appropriate state teaching certification or licensure, or willingness to obtain, required. Previous experience in teaching middle school students, with a focus on English preferred. Strong knowledge of English curriculum standards and effective teaching practices. Physical Requirements

The ability to stand, sit, move around the classroom for extended periods, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Lifting, bending, and carrying classroom materials and supplies. Operate a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine. Effective communication, both verbal and written, and listen regularly.
