Job Summary

Position is a faculty position as defined by PA-24-01 and includes fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of faculty in relationship to teaching dental hygiene classes/labs/clinical as assigned, service to the college and program, and scholarship (RSCC PA-24-01).

  • Teaches didactic/lab/clinical classes as assigned utilizing evidence-based teaching strategies.
  • Works with program director on curriculum development.
  • Participates in ongoing evaluation of the program including ensuring compliance with regional and programmatic accreditation requirements.
  • Participates in service to the college and the program.
  • Participates in Advisory Committee meetings.
  • Participates in student advising.
  • Additional duties/responsibilities as clinical coordinator include:
  • Providing orientation and ongoing education for adjunct clinical faculty.
  • Communicating and collaborating with the program director regarding issues/concerns regarding the safe, effective operation of the clinic and the clinical educational experiences and environment.
  • Maintains first year and second year student monitor duty rotations and chair assignments.
  • Participates in weekly, monthly, and quarterly maintenance of clinic equipment.
  • Assists in maintaining a repair log for clinic related equipment and coordinates with dental companies necessary repairs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Registered Dental Hygienist with a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution required (Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene preferred).
  • Licensed as a registered dental hygienist in the State of Tennessee or eligible for licensure. Must have current TN license prior to start of position.
  • Three years clinical experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One-year experience in teaching and scholarly experience in a dental hygiene program preferred.
  • Evidence of familiarity with evidence based educational methodology preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledgeable of current technologies in clinic and appropriate to the area of instruction.
  • Familiarity with management of inventory.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize duties and responsibilities.
  • Current CPR or completion of course prior to assuming responsibilities.
