Job description
- Aftercare Staff Knoxville Montessori School is seeking Aftercare Staff for the 2026–2027 school year.
- This position supports a safe, engaging, and welcoming after-school environment for children ages 18 months through 18 years old.
- Aftercare Staff help create a positive end to the school day by fostering independence, respectful interactions, and meaningful connections within the school community.
- The Aftercare Staff member plays an important role in supervising children, supporting outdoor play, facilitating activities, and maintaining a calm and orderly environment.
- This role encourages children to develop independence, social responsibility, and peaceful problem-solving skills while providing a safe space for relaxation, exploration, and community building after the school day ends.
- The ideal candidate is dependable, warm, flexible, and comfortable working with children across a wide range of ages and developmental stages.
- This person should enjoy actively engaging with children through outdoor play, games, arts and crafts, reading, and other enrichment activities while maintaining clear expectations and supportive relationships.
- Responsibilities include supervising and engaging children during aftercare, supporting daily activities and outdoor play, monitoring attendance and student pick-up, maintaining a safe and respectful environment, assisting with light cleanup, communicating effectively with families and colleagues, attending required meetings and school events, and following KMS expectations for professionalism, confidentiality, and communication.
- Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and hold a high school diploma.
- College coursework is preferred.
- Experience working with children in a caregiving, educational, recreational, or youth development setting is preferred.
- The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM–6:00 PM during the school year.
- Additional hours may be available during summer programming (8:30 AM–4:00 PM) and school in-service days (8:00 AM–4:00 PM).
- Compensation ranges from $14.25–$18.25 per hour based on experience, education, certifications, and qualifications through our point-based pay scale.
