  • Purpose: To provide injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation services while supporting the Sports Medicine Department to ensure the health and safety of student-athletes.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions: Assist the Sports Medicine Department as needed, serving as a liaison between Wagner Athletics and team orthopedic surgeons and referring injured student-athletes to appropriate physicians when necessary Coordinate and provide medical supervision for assigned athletic teams, including practices, games, and events Organize and submit secondary insurance claims for injuries sustained during intercollegiate competition Provide comprehensive prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries Assist in maintaining comprehensive, accurate, and confidential records, including injury reports, daily treatment logs, pre-participation histories and physicals, and other required medical documentation Perform daily maintenance and organization of athletic training facilities Maintain all required professional certifications and state licensure

Qualifications

Work Experience: 1–2 years Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred Certifications/Licensure: Certification by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) and licensure in the State of New York Special Considerations: This position requires the performance of injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation for all assigned athletic programs while assisting the Sports Medicine Department and serving as a liaison to team orthopedic surgeons and physicians. Work may include evenings, weekends, and holidays as dictated by team schedules and athletic events.
