Job purpose

The Career Readiness & Success Coordinator supports the development of students’ career readiness and professional identity through individualized guidance, experiential learning opportunities, and career-focused programming. This position assists students in exploring career pathways, preparing for internships and early career opportunities, and building foundational professional skills aligned with Wagner College’s four distinct education programs/schools. The Coordinator serves as a visible and approachable resource for students while supporting broader student success initiatives.

Duties/Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Student Career Readiness Support
  • Provide one-on-one and small group coaching to assist students in clarifying career interests, identifying strengths, values, and goals, and creating actionable career plans
  • Support students with resume and cover letter development, LinkedIn profiles, interview preparation, and internship/job search strategies
  • Administer and interpret career interest assessments to support student career exploration
  • Facilitate drop-in hours and scheduled student appointments
  • Experiential Learning & Internship Coordination
  • Assist students in identifying and applying for internships and experiential learning opportunities
  • Promote and coordinate experiential learning opportunities including internships, service learning, job shadowing, site visits, and career panels
  • Support internship placement processes and monitor student participation and progress
  • Collaborate with faculty and campus partners to expand student access to internship and employer partnerships
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for students seeking internship and employment opportunities
  • Guide students in navigating job boards, career platforms, and employer engagement opportunities
  • Share timely information regarding openings, application processes, and opportunity timelines
  • Career Readiness Programming
  • Design and facilitate workshops, webinars, and programs focused on career readiness topics including:
  • Resume writing
  • Internship search strategies
  • Professional communication
  • Networking
  • Workplace expectations
  • Support employer engagement activities including career fairs, networking events, and industry panels
  • Facilitate career exploration sessions for first-year seminar students
  • Stay informed on labor market trends and emerging career opportunities to support advising and programming
  • Career Resource Support
  • Develop and maintain career readiness materials including resume templates, guides, and tip sheets
  • Support career platforms such as Handshake and similar systems
  • Ensure students have access to current and accessible career resources
  • Data Management & Reporting
  • Track and report student participation, internship placements, student outcomes, and career development milestones
  • Collaboration & Student Engagement
  • Work collaboratively with campus partners to support career readiness and student success initiatives
  • Participate in cross-functional efforts related to life skills and student development
  • Serve as a visible and approachable resource for students seeking career readiness and student success support

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 0–3 years of experience in higher education, student support, advising, or related fields
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Preferred

  • Experience in internships, career services, or student-facing roles
  • Familiarity with resume writing and job search tools
  • Interest in student success and career development
