- FUNCTION: Under the Director of Youth, Family, and Educational Programs, Day Camp Director, and Group Supervisor, Camp Counselors provide daily supervision of campers, lead group games, art/STEM activities, physical activity, swimming, and play, participate in weekly field trips, and act as positive youth role models.

- ABILITIES: Previous experience with children, preferably in day camp. Enthusiastic, energetic, fun-loving, able to work with diverse people and ages. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, and Child Abuse Prevention training within 90 days of hire. Ability to relate to diverse populations and lead activities in indoor/outdoor settings. Ability to guide children to develop knowledge, skills, and capabilities. Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills. Ability to motivate and inspire, make independent decisions, and manage difficult situations professionally.
Responsibilities
Supervise children and maintain accurate headcounts. Assist children with daily needs, including hygiene, belongings, group expectations, and activities. Maintain positive relations with parents and staff; model relationship-building skills (including Listen First). Follow program standards, safety, and cleanliness requirements. Attend staff meetings and trainings. Follow YMCA policies, including medical, disciplinary, child abuse prevention, and emergencies. Report injuries/incidents to camp leadership. Follow daily curriculum and participate in camp activities, including swimming and wellness programs. Be counted in camper ratios. Perform other related duties as assigned. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Stand for long periods, bend/stoop occasionally, lift up to 25 lbs occasionally. Work outdoors all day. Reasonable accommodations provided as required by ADA to perform essential functions.
