- Shift: Day - M-FGeneral Function Under the direction of the Director of Youth, Family, and Educational Programs and Day Camp Director, the Activity Lead organizes and leads recreational and creative experiences for campers and staff. The Activity Lead plans and leads a daily morning activity (Reading, Sports, or Arts/STEM) for different camp groups while maintaining ratio, and serves with an assigned group in the afternoon. Participates in weekly field trips and acts as a positive role model for youth. Job Responsibilities Provide leadership and guidance for assigned activity area Create and lead daily lessons/activities (Reading, Sports, or Arts/STEM) Supervise groups of children and provide clear instructions to campers and assisting staff Maintain positive relationships with parents and staff; model relationship-building skills (including Listen First) Ensure program standards are met, including safety and cleanliness Participate in daily camp activities (swimming, wellness, and other programs) Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing camp schedules and activities Maintain required camper-to-staff ratios (morning activity and afternoon group) Attend staff meetings and trainings Follow YMCA policies and procedures (medical, disciplinary, child abuse prevention, emergencies) Manage challenging situations professionally and make appropriate decisions Perform other related duties as assigned Physical Requirements Bend and stoop occasionally Stand for long periods Lift up to 25 pounds occasionally Work outdoors for the full day ADA Statement The YMCA of Indiana County complies with ADA and will provide reasonable accommodations for qualified applicants/employees to perform essential job functions, unless it causes undue hardship.
