- Purpose: The Lab School Scheduling Coordinator and Counselor is responsible for assisting students in the selection and enrollment of HEALS courses. This position will work with counselors in each of the home high schools in scheduling courses for students while ensuring the graduation requirements are completed. This position will provide guidance to assist the students in identifying classes available in an area of interest and will guide students in the selection of courses that will prove the most beneficial in their program of study.
Responsibilities
Complies with all rules, policies, and procedures as established by Emory and Henry University. Meets with each HEALS student to schedule the HEALS courses. Meets with school counselors in each of the high schools served to ensure that each student is meeting all necessary requirements and is on track to graduate. Provides the scheduled courses and the appropriate class providers to the counseling office at the home high schools Provides the students and the scheduled courses with the class providers, i.e. community colleges, governor’s school, etc. to ensure enrollment. Will assist as needed with the supervision of the SWVA-HEALS students, Supports the Executive Director and Lab School staff members to ensure that program goals and objectives are accomplished and that operations run efficiently.
Qualifications
Bachelors’ degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Have or be qualified for a valid Virginia teaching license preferred. Experience as a school counselor at the high school level preferred. Qualifications
