Position summary

Under the direction of the Sports Director the Youth Sports Instructor is responsible for assisting and leading the assigned youth sport programs.

Availability

June – August (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings); September – October (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings); October – May (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings and Saturday Mornings). Short shifts and must be available for at least 2 shifts in the week.

Essential functions

1.

Arrives beforehand to set up equipment and cleans up equipment and the fields before leaves.

2.

Needs to have reliable transportation to offsite programming.

3.

Needs to be comfortable working with kids ages 3-12 and leading small groups.

4.

Assists the Youth Sports Director to run through the day’s lesson plan and expectations before the program begins.

5.

Teaches the youth sports program curriculum assigned by the Youth Sports Director.

6.

Communicates appropriately with parents and reports any problems or concerns to Youth Sports Director.

7.

Maintains the safety of all participants.

8.

Performs other duties as assigned.

9.

Sports available to teach throughout the year: Soccer, Basketball, Tee Ball/Coach Pitch, Track and Field, Flag Football, Dodgeball.

Qualifications

1. Minimum 15 years of age. 2. Must have reliable transportation. 3. Previous participation in or knowledge of sports preferred. 4. Experience with a diverse population. 5. Strong communication and team working skills. 6. Ability to interact with children at their cognitive level.

Certifications

1. Bloodborne Pathogens/Child Abuse Prevention every year

Physical demands

1. Ability to lift 40 lbs. 2. Stand, run, kick, throw, bend, and catch. 3. Noise level is usually moderate.
