The Special Education Teacher is responsible for creating individualized education plans (IEPs) and delivering tailored lessons to students with emotional and behavioral disorders. They must manage classroom behavior, track academic progress, and maintain communication with parents and administration.
Candidates must hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and a K-12 Special Education Certification. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and the ability to build positive relationships with diverse student populations are required.
Behavioral Health Associates (BHA) is an educational organization. We offer an academic learning environment integrated with behavior support services for students diagnosed with emotional/behavioral disorders to empower the students in overcoming challenges and creating new stories in their lives. We currently have an anticipated opening for a Special Education Teacher for our new PRIDE Program at Pottsville Academy, slated to open at the beginning of the 2026-2027 School Year.

POSITION GOAL The main goal of the Special Education Teacher is to identify the individual needs of each child and create a healthy, inspiring, and supportive learning environment. The student population worked with varies in needs based on the individual student, i.e., high anxiety, low motivation, social skills deficits, and many other areas that can affect a student's academic performance.
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree. Special Education Certification (K-12). Experience with students with ASD is beneficial, but not required. NCPI training is beneficial, but not required. Restorative practice training is beneficial, but not required. Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff and leadership team, while maintaining professional boundaries. Positively represent and promote BHA services. Maintain confidentiality in all matters. Work both independently and as a team. Communicate effectively utilizing both written and oral communication. Basic computer literacy with Microsoft/Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, etc.). Effectively utilize technology for communication and reporting needs.
