Position Summary
The Clinical Supervisor of the Sleep Disorders Center is responsible for providing and supervising the professional care and related assistance to patients in the areas of the Sleep Disorders Center and Neurodiagnostics. The Clinical Supervisor supports medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff and Patient Care Services pursuant to organizational policy.
Responsibilities
Assists in the development and evaluation of departmental policies and procedures. Prioritizes patient care according to the patient’s immediate condition or needs. Demonstrates competency/proficiency with scoring sleep studies and generating reports for interpretation; archives studies on appropriate media for storage of patient information/records and manages equipment function and maintenance. Generates reporting to physicians. Professional practice reflects current knowledge of current professional practice standards, laws, and regulations. Ensures the orientation and training of new departmental associates as needed; provides on-going competency assessments, annual evaluations and corrective actions as indicated. Provides clinical supervision to Sleep Center and Neurodiagnostics personnel with management of daily patient care activities for the department. Disseminates information to personnel concerning schedules, policies and procedures and process changes. Demonstrates knowledge and compliance with quality initiatives, infection control, and patient safety. Implements processes to achieve stated goals in the organizational and departmental scorecards. Monitors associate compliance as well. Assists with the development and implementation of a departmental budget; operates within budgetary guidelines. Assists with the development of and presentation of departmental related programs and services. Works to improve patient experience; performs daily rounding on patients; assures discharge phone calls are completed daily. Considers factors related to patient and associate safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning and delivering patient care; coordinates personnel, equipment and other resources. Participates in planning and monitoring the budget to achieve appropriate budgetary targets. Remains mentally alert and maintains concentration with attention to detail for prolonged periods, at times under stress. Maintains adaptability, flexibility, initiative, persistence, and efficiency of time management and action. Does not pose a direct threat to health or safety of self or others. Provides safe, efficient, competent care to population assigned. Meets PWMC Environment of Care Standards. Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority. Minimum Experience: One (1) years of sleep center experience preferred. Licensure Requirement: Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) and Licensed by the State of TN is required.
