  • HourlySUMMARY: Responsible for assisting all educators in implementing a multi-sensory individualized educational plan (IEP) for students in the nonpublic school; serve as liaison between teachers, BCBAs, Behaviorists and OT/SLP and parents.

  • DUTIES: Assist educators in implementing the IEP and review daily lesson plans and contribute information and ideas as appropriate Observe and control behavior according to established procedures Report progress regarding student behavior and performance to teacher Provide vocational instruction according to expertise and student program (e.g., woodshop, photography, clerical) Participate in special programs (e.g., assemblies, plays, cultural events) with students as required Participate in the maintenance of individual student records including progress reports and daily attendance records in accordance with school policies; ensures confidentiality is maintained Respond appropriately to incidents and problems with students to de-escalate them as quickly as possible; uses crisis intervention skills in communicating with child; participates in physical interventions as necessary, in accordance with Company policies and procedures Attend and participates in faculty meetings, in-service programs and workshops to maintain professional knowledge and skills and keep informed as to Company policies and programs that may impact on students; attends ProAct/CPR training and utilizes its techniques Assist in maintaining health and safety of students by being aware of environment and the potential of student actions; assists the teacher or specialist according to established guidelines and procedures Assist students by providing behavioral examples, displaying values and morals, providing emotional support, a friendly attitude and general guidance; assists in directing group activities of students at lunch and other times Performs other reasonable related duties as assigned

  • REQUIREMENTS: In the course of performing this job, the incumbent typically spends time standing, walking on sloped/hilly areas of campus, carrying, driving, lifting (up to 40 pounds), listening, speaking, reaching, writing, and participating in restraint procedures. Qualifications Working knowledge of child guidance principles and practices, basic academic subjects, including arithmetic, oral and written communication skills; safe practices in classroom activities, record-keeping techniques and health and safety regulations Ability to learn the special needs, problems and requirements of students; assist teachers with instruction and related activities of the assigned learning environment; and operate instructional equipment Minimum of 48 college units basic skills in working with children with disabilities or adolescents, typically learned in two years experience ability to pass and utilize ProAct Training within one months of employment ability to pass and utilize First Aid and CPR Certification within three months of employment ability to work as a member of a therapeutic team ability to support philosophy of the school and Company effective oral and written communications skills The incumbent must be able to perform this job safely, without endangering the health or safety of him/her or others Requires a valid California Driver License and proof of insurance acceptable per insurance carrier Must fulfill all requirements of employment, including clearance of all required background records (e.g. Department of Justice, Child Abuse, California Community Care Licensing, County Sanction List, etc.), professional, physical examination, and drug testing
